ARMAGEDDON 1998
Armageddon is an
American movie released in July 1, 1998. The movie is about an asteroid in the
size of Texas will hit the earth and it will destroy it, and in order to save
it, this asteroid must be destroyed in two pieces to avoid hitting the earth.
NASA have created a team of deep core drillers to send them to this asteroid to
drill through it and plant a pump to destroy it.
The man hero in this
movie is Harry played by Bruce Willis and he was the head of the team, and once
they reach the point to set up the time for the pump, they have discovered that
someone have to stay with the pump to explode it. Harry was the one who chose
to stay and scarify for his daughter and to save the humanity.
I think that is the
time which the movie was made has helped in its success, because in this period
which is 1998, the technology was considered in the beginning, and not like
nowadays, so you can believe that someone have to stay to explode the pump, but
now, I think if something like that would happen, they may not send humans in
there, they may send robots to do this job, and we can observe that nowadays
there are robots can do a lot of things, and in the future they can do
everything, who knows.
I think heroes 50 years
ago are different from now. I think that this is because that the values and
morals has differ now from the past, in the past there were more values and the
people was more likely to scarify for each other, you it was normal to see
someone who can help someone who doesn’t know or scarify for his family or
friends.
I also think that
heroes in the next 50 years will be also different, we may find no human hero
at all in the movies or in the real life too, we can find robot heroes, or
other things that can exceed our expectation, we can never know.
